I have been out of the loop with the Unfinished Song series for a couple years now. I just realized the other day, that this book came out in 2015! I had been waiting so long for its release, that I forgot about it. I'm so sad to admit that, as this is my favorite series of all time (even above Harry Potter & the Twilight series of books). NOW, I'm freaking out, hoping that "Mirror" is released soon!Dindi is amazing. Everything she puts up with, achieves, fights for or against...all the obstacles she continually surmounts....literally & metaphorically. She finally was able to prove herself, but only with a twist, which is not surprising...but sad that it can't be 100% the way it should be.
Kavio's storyline is, of course, deepening...& I find myself constantly hoping he gets his memory back...& finds himself free of Lady Death's clutches, somehow. I want he & Dindi to have their "happily ever after" SO BAD...just how much more will these two have to go through, until they can FINALLY, TRULY be together?! (And more importantly, for both of them to finally be on the same page?)
I find myself always wanting to punch a few of the characters in the face...one in particular, Kemla, always keeps me on my toes. I oftentimes find myself hating to love her, & loving to hate her. I'm happy she finally got her happy ending though...assuming that is *hopefully* her happy ending.
What will come of Finnadro, Svarr, & Zumo?
I know there's a LOT more in store for this series, and as always, I can't wait to read the next book! Keep 'em coming, Tara! The suspense is killing me!

love this series cant wait for the rest
I love this series. Each character is given a detailed history and description. As a reader you begin to love or hate each one. The fae world created by Tara is unlike any other. This unique series is a great read.
A very good continuation of the story line. Lots of unexpected turns and twists to keep you from second guessing the progression. Well written material.
So happy to have a new installment--been waiting a long time. Very little time has elapsedin the story from the end of Blood until Mask begins. Maya does a good job balancing many developed and emerging characters in this segment of the Whirlwind saga. Several central characters are stymied with memory loss, but the action moves forward, external forces forcing them to cope and rework relationships. -- I hope Maya continues writing l--please don't leave us hanging for another 3 years!
So... I've waited with bated breath for this book, and I was not disappointed. I could tell in the writing how much time she doesn't on it, and how much care she took.
It is clear good much Dindi had grown, even from the beginning of the last book to the end of this one.
The frustrating parts are meant to be frustrating, I get that, and even still they're believable as human nature.
Trying not to go into detail for the people who haven't read it yet, but she hasn't disappointed me yet, again, I'm on pins and needles awaiting book 8.
Why only 4 stars? The song is still unfinished. Each book introduces new characters or delves more deeply into each ones motivation, desires loves, hates with wisps of info for you to understand them better. Looking forward to "Mirrors".
The story of The Mask just drew me in from the beginning. It had been awhile since I had read book 6 and wasn't sure if I would remember or get lost in the storyline and characters which is quite complex but like an old friend I fell right into the book without any problems. The catchup was seamlessly woven into the story without being repetitive and the story flowed. I again fell in love with Dinde and Kavio/ Umbrial. The supporting characters are so well written and just come alive on the pages. The scenes are vivid and I can easily visualize them. I can see the passion and the hurt and pride, betrayal, torn and conflicted loyalties. I recommend this series for teens and up. If you love a good book to curl up with than you have found 7 and more on the way.
